War Master is a top-down idle strategy game about building an army and grinding it up rank by rank. You start with a small squad and a patch of ground, and the loop is simple to read but hard to put down: send your troops into the field, let them clash with the enemy, and collect the golden medals they drop when a fight goes your way.
Those medals are the whole game. Spend them to rank up, and ranking up is what unlocks the next tier of firepower — starting with basic soldiers and working up through tanks, attack helicopters, and eventually nuclear bombs. Every session is really the same question asked at a bigger scale: can you convert this fight into enough medals to afford the next one?
Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD to move your forces
- Mouse: click and drag to move instead, if you'd rather point-and-drag than use the keyboard
Tips
- Don't rank up the instant you can afford it — banking a few extra medals first means you won't be caught mid-battle short on troops.
- Bigger weapons cost more to field, so a rank-up that unlocks tanks or helicopters isn't automatically worth using yet if your medal income can't keep pace with their upkeep.
- Watch where enemies are massing before committing your whole squad to one push — spreading out too early is how a winning fight turns into a costly one.
It's a good pick for a short, low-pressure session — there's no story to follow, just a battlefield loop you can drop into and leave whenever you've hit the next rank.
