About Block Blast

Block Blast is an endless puzzle game where you place polyomino shapes onto an 8x8 grid. Unlike traditional falling-block games, there is no gravity and no time limit. You receive three random shapes at a time and must place all of them before getting a new set. Your goal is to clear space and rack up points by filling entire horizontal rows or vertical columns.

The core challenge comes from the restriction on rotation. Because pieces must be played exactly as they are dealt, leaving awkward gaps quickly becomes fatal. The game pushes you to plan your board carefully, rewarding consecutive clears and multi-line wipes with massive score multipliers.

Controls

Play entirely with the mouse or touch screen. Click and hold a piece from the tray at the bottom, drag it over the 8x8 grid, and release to drop it into place.

Tips

  • Keep the board open: Always try to leave enough room for a 3x3 square. It is the hardest piece to place, and getting one when your board is cluttered usually ends your run.
  • Do not rush: There is no timer. Analyze your three pieces before making a move to figure out the most efficient order to play them.
  • Aim for combos: Try to set up the board so that every piece you play clears at least one line. Stringing these clears together multiplies your score quickly.

Block Blast FAQ

Can I rotate the pieces in Block Blast?
No, you cannot rotate any of the pieces. You must place them onto the board exactly in the orientation they appear.
How do you score combos?
You score combos by clearing lines on consecutive turns. Try to clear multiple rows and columns with a single placement for even higher scores.
When does a round end?
The game ends when you are unable to place any of the three current pieces onto the grid. Keeping space open for large 3x3 squares is critical.
