Swords and Sandals 2 is a turn-based gladiator RPG from 2008: you build a fighter from scratch, then send them into the arena to earn gold and level up. Create your gladiator's look, put skill points into stats like strength and stamina, and pick your moves each round rather than mashing buttons.
Every fight plays out as a menu of moves, each showing your odds of landing it before you commit. Win, and the gold goes straight into new armor, weapons and magic back in town, which changes what you can safely try in the next bout. It's a slower, more strategic loop than most arena games, closer to sim than brawler, and a full run to the top can take several hours.
Controls
Left mouse button only — click to pick your move in battle, and click through the menus to build your character and shop for gear.
Tips
- Split early skill points between strength and stamina so you can both hit hard and outlast longer fights.
- Spend your winnings before the next match — better gear going in matters more than a gold stockpile.
- Check the success odds shown on each move and favor the safer option once your health gets low.
- Pace your upgrades instead of rushing tougher opponents — the full run is a long climb, not a quick clear.
