Lava Bird takes the tap-to-fly rhythm of a flappy bird game and adds a weapon to it. You control a small flying creature that never stops moving forward, and every tap sends it up while also firing a fireball out in front. The twist is that those same fireballs can hit you: fly into the trail of your own shot and the run ends just as fast as if a spike or an enemy bird had caught you.
A session is short and reflex-driven. Enemy birds close in from the side, jagged spikes line the top and bottom of the screen, and you're juggling altitude, timing your shots, and staying clear of your own fire all at once. Clearing enemies unlocks more of the game's story, so there's a reason to keep pushing past your last run instead of just chasing a high score.
Controls
- Spacebar — flap upward and fire a fireball
- Tap — same action on phone and tablet
Tips
- Fire with purpose — a fireball you don't need is a hazard hanging in your own flight path a second later.
- Tap in short bursts rather than holding a rhythm; the fireball spacing matters as much as your altitude.
- Watch the gap you're flying into a beat before you get there — spikes and birds often arrive together.
It's a good pick for a quick round or two between games — easy to understand immediately, hard to master because of that self-inflicted fire risk.
