About Cuphead

This free browser version of Cuphead lifts one boss fight straight out of StudioMDHR's run-and-gun classic: Aviary Action, a battle against the cuckoo-clock bird Wally Warbles. There's no map to explore and no stages to clear — you load in, the fight starts immediately, and it's just you, your plane, and three lives to survive three escalating phases as Wally builds into a bigger, faster threat.

The whole thing plays out on a side-scrolling airborne stage. You're piloting a small plane carrying Cuphead, weaving between attack patterns while chipping away at Wally's health bar. Each phase changes his attacks, so a run that goes smoothly early can fall apart fast once he escalates — reading the pattern shift is most of the challenge.

Controls

One player:

  • Arrow keys — move
  • X — shoot
  • C — shrink
  • Z — parry
  • V — use superpower

Two players can play at once: player one keeps the arrow keys to move, I to shoot, O to shrink, U to parry and P for superpower; player two uses WASD to move, C to shoot, V to shrink, X to parry and B for superpower.

Tips

  • Parry with Z whenever Wally throws a pink, glowing attack — a successful parry doesn't just avoid damage, it deals some back.
  • Save your superpower for the moments Wally's attacks overlap and the screen gets crowded, rather than using it the instant it charges.
  • Pick a lower difficulty first to learn the phase transitions before pushing for a clean, no-damage run on Regular or higher.
  • Keep moving in short hops instead of long drifts — Wally's patterns punish committing to one lane for too long.

It's a short, focused fight rather than a full playthrough, which makes it a good fit for a quick session or for anyone curious about Cuphead's boss-battle feel before trying the full game.

Cuphead FAQ

Is this the full Cuphead game?
No — it's a single free boss battle, Aviary Action against Wally Warbles, taken from Cuphead. There's no level select or other stages here.
Can two people play together?
Yes. Player one uses the arrow keys, I, O, U and P; player two uses WASD, C, V, X and B, so you can take on Wally Warbles side by side.
How many lives do I get?
Three lives across all three phases of the fight, so getting hit repeatedly early can end the run before you reach Wally's final form.
Do I need to install anything to play?
No — it runs straight in your browser, no download or install required.
