Age of War is a side-scrolling base-defense game where your side and the enemy's are fighting across a single lane, and the only currency that matters is time under fire. You build units to march toward the enemy base while your own defenses hold the line, and every kill you land earns points that go toward either more units or evolving your civilization into the next age.
That evolve decision is the whole game. Push units early and you'll out-tempo an opponent who's still saving up, but stall too long on outdated units and a rival who evolved first will roll over you with gear a full age ahead. Across the run you climb through five eras, from stone-age clubs to future-tech weaponry, unlocking new units and turrets at every step.
Controls
Mouse only — click the unit and turret buttons along the top of the screen to build, and use the same bar to evolve to the next age once you've saved enough points.
Tips
- Don't dump every point into units — evolving late leaves you facing enemies with tech you can't answer
- Turrets are cheaper insurance against a rush than matching unit-for-unit
- Watch the enemy's evolve meter as closely as your own; a rival about to jump an age is about to hit much harder
Made by Louissi, it's one of the originals in the evolution base-defense genre that a lot of later "ages" games borrowed from — a solid pick if you want a longer, strategic session rather than a quick round.
