Space Thing drops you into a pixel-art pocket of outer space where the only way to last is to shoot first. You pilot a small ship through retro alien scenery, trading fire with a stream of AI opponents while dodging incoming shots and grabbing whatever power-up drifts past.
The core loop is fast and arcade-simple: survive one wave, get stronger, survive the next. A regenerating shield gives you breathing room if you use it before you're cornered, and character skins unlock as you keep playing, so runs stay visually fresh even when the mechanics repeat. Alongside the main mode there's an Invaders mode for a different flavor of the same fight, and a local multiplayer option if you want to take on the aliens with a friend on the same keyboard.
Controls
Move — W, A, D or the arrow keys
Shoot — H or Z
Switch aim — J or X
Tips
- Pick up every power-up you see rather than saving them — they're there to be used, not hoarded.
- Use your shield regularly instead of waiting for a critical hit; it's meant to be a habit, not a last resort.
- Try Invaders mode once the main mode's rhythm feels familiar — it's a quick way to reset the challenge.
- If you've got someone next to you, local multiplayer is worth a round before you fully commit to a solo session.
It's a good fit for a short, twitchy session rather than a long sit-down — quick to pick up, no install, and easy to hand the keyboard to a second player mid-session.
