Refuge Solitaire Game

Refuge Solitaire is a two-deck solitaire variant built around eight foundation piles instead of the usual four: four of them climb upward starting from Ace, and four count back down starting from King. Every tableau card can land on top of another card of the same suit that's exactly one rank higher or lower, so instead of hunting for alternating red-and-black sequences, you're threading same-suit runs across the board.

That single rule changes the rhythm of a round. With two full decks in play, duplicate cards turn up throughout the layout, and freeing a blocked column often comes down to deciding which of two matching cards to move first. It asks for the same kind of look-ahead planning as a classic patience game, but the same-suit sequencing and split ascending/descending foundations give it a distinct feel from more familiar solitaire layouts.

Controls

Drag cards with the left mouse button, or with a finger on a touchscreen, and drop them onto a valid tableau card or foundation pile.

Tips

• Work out early which foundation piles are climbing from Ace and which are counting down from King — a card that's dead weight for one is often exactly what the needs.
• Since two of every card exist somewhere in the deck, don't panic if a card you need is buried; its match may already be playable elsewhere on the board.
• Keep at least one tableau column as empty as you can manage — a clear column is the only real flexibility you have when a same-suit run gets stuck.

It suits anyone who enjoys classic solitaire but wants a puzzle that plays a little differently from the standard four-foundation format.
