Hex Empire is a turn-based war game played out on a map of hexagonal territories. You start in control of a single small nation and one goal: take over every hex on the board before your rivals take yours.
Each turn you move your armies onto neighbouring hexes, city by city, weighing every attack against how thin it spreads your forces. Soldier morale matters as much as army size — a demoralized army attacks worse, so overextending across too many fronts at once can cost you a war you were winning. Up to three computer-controlled nations fight for the same map, and a large set of different maps and three difficulty levels keep any given match from playing out the same way twice.
Controls
Everything is done with the mouse — left-click to select your territory, then click an adjacent hex to move or attack.
Tips
- Take weak, undefended hexes first to grow your income and army size before picking fights with a rival capital.
- Watch morale, not just army size — a large but demoralized force can lose to a smaller, happier one.
- Don't attack on every front simultaneously; concentrate your strongest army on one rival at a time so you're never defending with leftovers.
- Start on the lowest difficulty if you're new to the map layout — the AI nations get noticeably more aggressive at higher settings.
It's a quick-to-learn strategy game that suits a short lunch-break match or a longer session pushing for full map domination, and it runs entirely in the browser with nothing to install.
