About Fireboy and Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales

Fireboy and Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales is the sixth entry in Oslo Albet's long-running co-op puzzle-platformer series, sending the pair through a fairy-themed temple built around 31 levels, six of which stay locked until you've cleared the rest. The elemental rules that define the series are unchanged: Fireboy walks through fire and lava but dies the instant he touches water, Watergirl swims freely but melts in lava, and a patch of green slime kills either of them on contact.

The fairy tale theme brings one real new tool: small fairies scattered around each level that you drag with the mouse to trigger doors, elevators, and switches without moving Fireboy or Watergirl at all. Puzzles lean on lining up those fairy-activated mechanisms with the platforming rather than pure jump timing, and both characters still need to reach the exit door together, red diamonds for Fireboy and blue diamonds for Watergirl collected along the way, for a level to count as finished.

Controls

Fireboy: Left and Right arrow keys to move, Up arrow to jump.

Watergirl: A and D to move, W to jump.

Drag the fairies with the left mouse button.

Tips

  • Fairies don't move the characters, so plan a level around which door or elevator each one is meant to open before diving into the platforming.
  • Playing solo means running both characters from one keyboard, so a steady pace beats rushing to avoid an early death forcing a restart.
  • Grabbing a friend for local co-op makes the more elevator-heavy fairy puzzles noticeably easier to line up.

It's a two-player couch game at heart, best suited to a quick co-op session with someone sitting next to you rather than solo play.
