Fancy Pants is the HTML5 port of Brad Borne's classic side-scrolling platformer, one of the most well-known Flash games of its era. You play a hand-drawn stick-figure kid with a mop of hair and a pair of fancy pants, running through cartoon countryside on a quest to track down his kidnapped sister.
What set the original apart from platformers was momentum: your character keeps speed through jumps, curls into a rolling ball to blast down slopes and around loops, and can bounce off the black blob enemies that block the path by landing on them repeatedly. The level design leans into that physics feel, with long curved hills built for rolling and gaps that reward carrying speed rather than stopping and re-jumping.
Controls
- Move: Left / Right arrow keys
- Jump: S
- Duck / roll: Down arrow
- Interact: Up arrow
- Pause: Spacebar
Tips
- Hold Down while moving on a slope to curl into a ball — it's faster than running and lets you barrel through enemies you'd otherwise have to jump on.
- Jumping on a blob enemy usually takes more than one hit; keep bouncing on it rather than running past.
- Momentum carries between jumps, so a running start clears gaps that look too wide from a standing jump.
Worth a look if you remember Flash-era platformers or just want a side-scroller that rewards moving fast instead of moving carefully.
