2048 Cupcakes swaps the numbered tiles of the classic sliding puzzle for cupcake artwork on the same 4x4 board. The rules underneath are unchanged: slide every tile on the board at once, and any two matching cupcakes that collide merge into the next value up.
Each move drops a new tile onto the board, so the board fills up the longer a round runs. The real skill is deciding which corner to build your highest tile in before you run out of empty squares to work with. Reach the 2048 tile and the game offers to let you keep playing instead of ending the round, so a strong board can keep climbing past the original target.
Controls
Arrow keys slide every tile on the board up, down, left or right. On a touchscreen, swipe in the same four directions instead.
Tips
- Pick one corner and keep your highest-value tile parked there; only move away from it when no move is available.
- Arrange your row or column in roughly descending order so smaller tiles can chain into the big one instead of getting stranded.
- Don't force a merge just to open space — a board with a clear next move beats an emptier board with none.
- Stuck near 2048? Use "keep playing" rather than restarting; there's often still a lane you can clear.
It's the same logic as the original 2048, so anyone who already knows that game can jump straight in — just with cupcakes standing in for numbers.
